Far Country Pictures Acquires A Far Country Screenplay for Feature Film Development

Far Country Pictures has acquired A Far Country, an original screenplay by filmmaker Dalton Thomas, for development as a feature film.

Set in the seventeenth century, the historical drama follows a young man whose pursuit of independence takes him from Amsterdam to the Dutch East Indies, where personal ambition becomes entangled with commerce, empire and war.

Against the backdrop of the Makassar War, the story explores the fracture between a father and son, the consequences of pride and the possibility of returning home. The life and work of Rembrandt form a central thread in the narrative.

The film will be produced by Danny Miller, Amiad Kalushiner and Nick Romano, with principal photography planned for Indonesia.

The project is currently in development. Further announcements concerning production and creative partnerships will follow.
