Far Country Pictures has acquired Lion of Judah from filmmaker Dalton Thomas and is developing the project as a series of epic feature films.
Originally conceived for episodic television, the story is being reworked around a finite narrative arc, with each film forming part of a larger, complete story.
The original series demonstrated the strength of the story and its cinematic potential. Realizing its full scope, however, calls for a larger budget and a more extensive production than the television format could accommodate. The feature films will be developed as an entirely new production, with new screenplays and principal photography.
Set in the years before the fall of Jerusalem, Lion of Judah follows a Roman intelligence officer whose mission draws him into a world of divided loyalties, religious conviction and political unrest.
